Wood Turning

Turning Spindle is another name for turning wood. This method is commonly used for creating smaller pieces than with other woodturning methods. Turning Spindle is a woodturning technique referring to a piece of unfinished wood on a table-top wood lathe where the finished piece is turning on its centre axis. It is usually used to produce small pieces such as boxes with intricate carvings and engravings, but this technique has its own advantages.

A turning spindle can be turned using a variety of methods. Some of these include: screw turning, pinning, and cutting the wooden spindles, which is very popular because it is a faster method of turning the wood. Turners that are powered by a motor have the advantage that they allow for more torque in the turning motion. In turners powered by electricity the turning speed will be decreased as the motor needs more power, which is fine if you are only turning small amounts of wood. This is not an issue with turners powered by a motor because the power used in these machines is proportional to the speed of turning. The disadvantage of a turning motor is that the finished piece tends to be heavier and more bulky than a finished piece made by a turning spindle machine.

Turners can be used in the shop or for private home use, in shops and in homes. Many people turn wood using turning machines, which allows them to turn more wood faster and with less work than is possible using a turning woodman.
